G7 & G8 Christmas’ Mission @Pickering Retirement Home – December 08, 2012

For the first time in the Christmas’ season, our beloved G7 & G8 Class organized their first mission to Pickering Retirement Home on Dec 08, 2012, offering joy and hope to the Seniors’ people there in the Christmas’ season.
 
Our G7 & G8 performed some Christmas’ Carols as well as a Christmas skit.  The feedback was awesome as every senior person enjoyed our Kids’ presentation.  Keep it up Guys…
 
We ask our Dear Lord to reward everyone who participated in that mission and thank You Lord for such a blessed opportunity.

Christmas Carols’ Performance @Pickering City Hall – December 06, 2012

We thank our Dear Lord for this opportunity to expose our Coptic Church to the community at Pickering City Hall.
 
On Dec 06, 2012, two groups of our beloved SMSJB Church (G3 to G6 and G7-G8) performed Christmas Carols for the first time at Pickering City Hall.  They delivered a joyful message to all people: ” For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” – John 3:16.
 
Thanks to everyone who coordinated this event and thanks to everyone who invested his/her time to well represent our beloved church and deliver this joyful message.  We got another invite from the City Hall to perform this coming Feb’ 2013.

Poetry Night – November 09, 2012

SMSJB Youth Group organized their second Poetry Night on FRI November 09th, 2012.  It was an outstanding event where all the Youth from multiple churches and Youth Groups outside of our Congregation in Canada and USA were invited to present their poems, spoken words, their songs, etc.  Around 15 acts were presented in a professional manner.  In addition, our SMSJB G7 and G8 Choir presented a christian kenyan song “Jesus love me.”
 
This event explored lots of talented Youth.  They can rhyme their words and deliver significant messages.  Everything was well organized, and refreshments and snacks were served at the end of the event.
 
Every participant and audience are looking forward to repeating this event.

November’ 2012 Update

Our beloved Fr. Daniel Bessada has had the blessing of H.H. Pope Tawadros II right after H.H. Enthronement’s Ceremony on Nov 18, 2012.  H.H. blessed and is satisfied with the project and the new church.

 

All Saints’ Celebration (Kids’ Fun Night) – October 31, 2012

In her continuous effort to offer joy and fun to our beloved Kids, our SMSJB Church organized a Kids’ Fun Night “All Saints’ Celebration” on WED Oct 31st, 2012 from 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM @ St. John’s Building.
 
We started by the Thanksgiving Prayer, followed by multiple fun’s activities: Apples’ bucket full of Water, Musical Mats, Balloons’ Game, Cupcake’ Decoration, Bible Trivia, Kids’ Skit, Food Time and Candies’ bags distribution.
 
All Kids enjoyed this night with their Saints and Fun’ Costumes.  The Church took this opportunity to boost the kids’ knowledge with the Saints’ life.
 
We thank all our Kids for participating in this event and appreciate the time and efforts the servants invest in our beloved Kids.  It was really rewarding.  Thank you Lord for blessing our Church’s activities.

Pumpkins’ Carving Event – October 27, 2012

For the third year in a row, our beloved SMSJB Church organized a fun fall event to carve the Pumpkins and create funny shapes.
 
On October 27, 2012, more than 60 Kids got together to have fun and enjoy snack time.  This time, our beloved kids invited their friends from schools and neighborhood to join them and familiarize them with the multiple Church’s activities.
 
Our Youth Group gave a hand and helped the Kids to carve their pumpkins.  They came up with funny shapes as shown in the videos and photos (Visit the Multimedia Center).
 
Lots of Fun!  Thank God for this time.  We ask You to bless our Church’s ministries for the Glory of Your Holy Name.

Buffalo and Rochester Youth Trip – October 19-20, 2012

Our Youth group (High school, University and Grads) participated in a wonderful youth gathering at St. Mary and St. Moses the Black Coptic Church in Buffalo (USA) where they enjoyed a session about the sacrament of repentance and confession that was led by Abouna Mark Eskander and Abouna Daniel Bessada, followed by dinner at church hall, mid-night praises and a sleep over at the new church retreat center.
 
In the morning, they prayed a Divine Liturgy at St. Mark Coptic Church in Rochester and enjoyed a spiritual day at church. Dr. George Tadros was the main speaker who led 2 sessions about “Wisdom in Action”. Our Church youth shared their experience of the mission trip to Kenya showing a video clip and answering questions about the nature of serving God in Africa.
It was a true pleasure getting together and sharing prayers, spiritual songs / discussions, aghapy, social activities and mingling with the youth of our churches of St. Mercurius and St. George Church in St. Catharines, as well as our churches in Buffalo and Rochester.
We would like to thank everyone who participated and organized such a blessed event.

Thanksgiving Kids’ Celebration and Appreciation Day – October 14, 2012

Our beloved SMSJB Church celebrated the Thanksgiving with her blessed G1 to G6 Kids.  The Church took this blessed opportunity
Thanksgiving Kids’ Celebration and Appreciation day
SUN October 14, 2012
to reward all the Kids for their outstanding achievements and participation in Mahragan Al-Keraza’ 2012 and Convention’ 2012
There was a couple of Plays presented by G3 to G6 Group and G1 to G3 Group.
In addition, G3 to G6 presented a Choir Performance, followed by G1to G3 Choir Presentation.
We started by the SUN Divine Liturgy, followed by individual presentation of each kid from G1 to G6 to the Congregation about his/her participation and/or achievement(s) in Mahragan Al-Keraza’ 2012.  Then, we moved to St. John the Beloved’s Building to start the Kids’ Thanksgiving Celebration and Appreciation Day.
Our beloved kids performed two plays that delivered great messages:  First one was for G3 to G6 “The Heavenly Express” (This one was performed before in the Convention’ 2012).  The second one was for G1 to G3 “Little Red Riding Hood” (This one was performed in Mahragan Al-Keraza’ 2012).  In addition, the two groups performed two Choir’s presentations.
Fr. Daniel distributed gifts to all kids they participated in both Mahragan and Convention.  At the end, we had cakes and cookies with the Congregation and concluded with prayer.

Mahragan’ 2012 Awards Ceremony – September 30, 2012

We thank the Lord for the great achievements our beloved SMSJB Church has reached in Mahragan Al-Keraza this year.
 
For the first year, our Adults’ group has participated and achieved great results too in Spiritual, Choir and Table Tennis.
 
In addition, our beloved SMSJB Kids got awarded in Spiritual (One second rank and 7 third rank), Coptic (2 first rank, 1 second, and 3 third rank), Choir (Adult second place and G3 to G6 3rd place), Drama (G1 & G2 second place, G3 to G6 third place, and G7 & G8 second place), Writing (2 first place, 2 second place, and 2 third place), Art (1 first place, 12 second place, and 7 third place), Chess (1 second place), and Table Tennis (1 first place and 1 second place).
 
We thank everyone who participated this year.  May the Lord reward them all and bless our beloved Kids.

Youth Day at our SMSJB Church – September 29, 2012

Thank You Lord for an outstanding Youth day on SAT September 29, 2012.  Our beloved SMSJB Church orchestrated a Spiritual Youth Day.
 
Multiple Churches’ Youth Groups from USA and Southern Ontario got together to leverage their spiritual life, pray and have fun.
 
The Guest Speaker was Dr. Hani Ashamalla (Youth Mentor & Counselor, Prominent Speaker in Youth Conventions & Christian TV Channels, and Brother of Fr. Dawood Lamei).  The agenda for this day was:
 
o Divine Liturgy
o Breakfast
o First Session: Love and Purity
o Lunch
o Second Session: Christian Dating (Marriage pre-steps)
o Q & A Session
o Conclusion Prayer and Fun
We ask our Dear Lord to reward everyone who participated in this blessed day many folds and looking forward to having more Youth Days: “A Church with no Youth is a Church with no future – H.H. Pope Shenouda III”
