“Serve one another humbly in love” Galatians 5:13
Our Coptic Church was blessed by the idea and efforts of Archdeacon Habib Guirguis who started Sunday school and spiritual meetings at churches back in the last century with the help and support of great fathers and Councillors who dedicated their life to service. Since then, most churches are hosting wonderful programs for mostly all age groups. Teaching became abundantly available through books, CD’s and media which create a wonderful picture of the Church.
This picture could be completed when teaching matches behavior. The bible tells us “serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13. In other translations; “enslave yourself to one another” or “let love make you serve one another”. So, teaching should lead us to love and serve one another in meekness. There is no room for pride or showing off in the church as actions speak louder than words.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said “And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two” Matthew 5:41 as the first mile is out of the duty of humbleness and the second mile is out of the duty of love. At the end of days, all our deeds are going to be evaluated by how much love they have been done with. “Yes, says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” Revelations 14:13. Just wondering how many deeds may follow us to heaven!
