“When the day of Pentecost was being celebrated,[a] all of them were together in one place. Suddenly, a sound like the roar of a mighty windstorm came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw tongues like flames[b] of fire that separated, and one rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in foreign[c] languages as the Spirit gave them that ability.” Acts 2:1-4

“As the Lord put on the body, leaving behind all principality and power, so Christians put on the Holy Spirit, and are at rest.”

Saint Polycarp of Smyrna (80 – 167)

Wherefore let us forsake the vain doing of the many and their false
teachings, and turn unto the word which was delivered unto us from
the beginning, being sober unto prayer and constant in fastings,
entreating the all-seeing God with supplications that He bring us
not into temptation, according as the Lord said, The Spirit is
indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. [Polycarp 7:2].
