Joyous 50 Days

Parmoute 5, 1742 - Pashons 23, 1742

"The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which [a]He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many [b]infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God." Acts 1:1-2

For by the sacrifice of His own body He did two things: He put an end to the law of death which barred our way; and He made a new beginning of life for us, by g2iving us the hope of resurrection. By man death has gained its power over men; by the Word made Man death has been destroyed and life raised up anew.

- St. Athanasius
